KaXu One to ease pressure on national grid

Apart from Medupi’s Unit 6 starting to produce power, it’s also hoped a new solar energy plant in the Northern Cape will help ease the country’s power woes.

The KaXu One Solar Thermal Power Plant in Pofadder, Northern Cape is the country’s first commercial solar power facility.

With more power generating capacity, KaXu One has begun supplying 100 megawatts of energy to the national grid, which is equivalent of powering 80,000 households.
