Minister considers amendments to new Land Act

Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti says it may be necessary to amend the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act following an outcry by traditional leaders.
Members of the National House of Traditional Leaders met with Nkwinti on Thursday to discuss their concerns over the legislation.He says they’ve raised “fair” issues.
“We discussed it ourselves as the department. When we look at the law, especially chapter six, we discussed and agreed that it may be necessary for us to ask for an amendment of that.”
