SA makes new push for alternative energy

South Africa is increasingly turning to alternative energy sources. 

A Spanish firm has just built a solar power plant, which is now feeding into the national grid. 

Energy consumption in Southern Africa is expected to treble by 2050 and while in the midst of an energy crisis, Africa’s second-most advanced economy is trying to both catch up, and prepare for the future.

Madrid-listed firm, Acciona, is just one of many that is providing a solution. 

It’s now built the Sishen Solar Plant, the company’s follow-up to its first project, the Gouda Wind Farm in the Western Cape.
