Farmers reap success from rural development projects in W Cape

Rural development projects in various communities in the Little Karoo and Southern Cape are reaping results. With the assistance of government, the youth, women and previously unemployed are now becoming successful in their farming endeavours.

 

The National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform hosted a media tour to three of these success stories in Haarlem, Dysselsdorp and Freimersheim in the Western Cape .

A successful apple farm in Haarlem in the Western Cape was bought by the Department of Rural Development in 2011, giving the Appelkloof Trust 100% ownership.
