Hundreds of families benefited from land compensations in Gauteng

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform together with the Land Claims Commission has paid out more than R8.4 million to nine families as financial compensation for land restitution in Gauteng. 784 people will benefit from the compensation.

Rural Development and Land Reform Deputy Minister, Candith Mashego-Dlamini says the common thread of the dispossession was the sudden eviction without warning from land owners and the apartheid government.

She says the compensation will restore the dignity of the families.
