Rural development programmes delayed by mismanagement

Government’s rural development programmes in Limpopo are said to be delayed by financial mismanagement, corruption and maladministration. 

The Chahleka community successfully claimed a farm in the Bandierkop outside Louis Trichardt through land restitution seven years ago. Claimants are divided, and accuse each other of greed. 

Some beneficiaries have lodged a dispute with the Legislature Petitions Committee alleging that some community members have taken ownership of the farm for personal gains.  

One of the petitioners, Mosina Molepo told the Committee in Polokwane that government officials are irregularly farming on their land.
